National Tournament Director, Harold Stenzel, will be sending in the entries for Top Level Chess.

Our experienced Grandmaster and Master coaches will prepare students for each round, analyze their games, and help each one cope with the rigors of championship chess competition.

Background
This tournament is a one or two day tournament with different sections. Top Level Chess Coaches will advise you in which section to place your child.

There are sections appropriate for players at any level of experience although it is important to have played at a local tournament (i.e. All Souls Saturday Tournament or another school tournament) before you try a City Tournament.

Any number of players from a school in one section form a team, but the top 4 scoring players produce the team score.

Each one day tournament is a 5-round Swiss. Everyone plays all 5 games. Each game is 30 minutes (+ 10 seconds delay) per player.

The two day tournaments will be 6 rounds with 3 each day at game in 60 minutes (+ 10 seconds delay) per person. You should plan to arrive by 9 am at the team room in order for your child to warm up and get oriented. If you stay for the trophy ceremony, the day should end between 7 and 8 pm.

If you must miss one or more rounds of play, half point byes are allowed, with a limit of 2 byes.
